The High Commissioner of Australia to New Zealand is an officer of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the head of the High Commission of the Commonwealth of Australia to New Zealand in Wellington. The High Commissioner has the rank and status of an Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and is currently Patricia Forsythe, who also holds non-resident accreditation to the Realm of New Zealand, including the Cook Islands, Niue and Tokelau, as well as the Pitcairn Islands, an overseas territory of the United Kingdom.

The posting is one of Australia's oldest, with the first High Commissioner appointed in 1943, although it dates much earlier to 1934 when an Australian Government Trade Commissioner was appointed to Wellington.[1] There is also a Consulate-General in Auckland maintained by Austrade.
