Current status[]

Thai Government nominated Phu Phra Bat Historical Park in 2016, but decided to withdraw after received recommendation from ICOMOS to redraft the nomination dossier.

In 2018, plans to nominate Si Thep Historical Park to the world heritage list was being planned by various Thai sectors. However, in March 2019, the government announced an oil exploration project to be conducted by the much-criticized Eco Orient Resources Corporation within the buffer zone of the park, effectively destroying any possibility for the site's inclusion in the world heritage list.[9][10]
