Seyed Khorasani

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Seyed Khorasani (Arabic: سيد خراسانی), is an Islamic leader whose rising is an essential part of Islamic eschatology.[1] According to the narration narrated by Fadl Ibn Shazan of Neyshabur, in an authentic document from Imam Sadegh, Khorasani is one of the townspeople of Samarkand.[2] Rising of Khorasani with the Islamic Black Standard flags is one of the signs of Mahdi's appearance.[3][4] He is considered amongst the assistants of Mahdi.[5][6]

According to Hadith(s), Seyed Khorasani has a spot on his right hand;[7] and will move to Kufa with Sufyani at one common day.[8] Finally, Khorasani with his army will defeat the army of Sufyani.[9]

History[]

The rising of Khorasani is an important part of Islamic eschatology. It has also been named among Signs of the appearance of the Mahdi.[10] Jafar Sadiq is reported saying:[11]

Coming out of three groups "Sufyani, Khorasani and Yamani" will be in: a year, a month, and a day.

Rising of Khorasani[]

Seyyed Khorasani's rising is going to be commenced from the east of the earth. In regards to Khorasani, Ahadith was narrated from the Islamic prophet Muhammad saying:[12][13][14][15][16]

A group from Mashriq is going to rise, and will provide the way for the rule of Mahdi.

— Ahadith

He will continue towards Iraq; and he will win at the battle against Sufyani and will eventually Khorasani will swear allegiance with the Mahdi.[17]

Black Standard flags movement[]

The movement of the Black Standard from the side of Khorasan is considered among the signs of Mahdi appearance.[18][19][20] It has been mentioned in the traditions (hadiths) that "you ought to have the expectation of Faraj from three things":

  • Establishment of differences between the ones who are from Shaam, for the things which is between them;
  • Fear/bewilderment in the month of Ramadan.[21]
  • Movement of black flags from Khorasan;

Khorasan can relate to two places:

  • A part of the current country of Iran which is started from Zagros Mountains and is still a part of Herat in Afghanistan
  • The areas/lands where are around Khorasan, that Khorasan's rulers had ruled at those areas.
