Switzerland was represented in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 by Vanilla Ninja with the song "Cool Vibes". The song is written by John O'Flynn and composed by David Brandes.
SF DRS opened a submission period for interested artists to submit their applications until 15 October 2004. Artists of any nationality were able to apply; however, only artists that have had television and stage experience (live performances), have made at least one video and have released at least one CD which placed among the top 50 in an official chart were eligible.[1] A jury panel composed of members from the three Swiss broadcasters SF DRS, TSR and RSI evaluated the applications received and selected the winner. On 9 November 2004, Estonian girl-band Vanilla Ninja was announced as the Swiss entrant at the Eurovision Song Contest 2005.[2] Their song "Cool Vibes" was presented on 5 March 2005 during a show hosted by Sandra Studer that celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest.
