Switzerland entered the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 with Francine Jordi and the song "Dans le jardin de mon âme". They were returning to the contest after being relegated from the 2001 contest after Jane Bogaert with "La vita cos'e" came 20th.
The Swiss broadcaster, SRG SSR idée suisse, hosted a national final to select the Swiss entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2002, held in Tallinn, Estonia.
The final was held at the Garage Music in Bellinzona on 2 February 2002, hosted by Milena Martelli. Eight songs competed, and the winner was selected over two rounds of public televoting. In the first round, the top three entries were selected to proceed to the second round. The results of the top three songs were not revealed, but the results for the other five songs were revealed. In the second round, "Dans le jardin de mon âme" by Francine Jordi was revealed as the winner with 41.1% of the votes.
Jordi sang for Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2002, performing 12th in the running order, following Israel and preceding Sweden. She received 15 points at the close of the voting, placing 22nd in a field of 24 and relegating Switzerland from the 2003 contest.[1]
