The Ang Mo Kio Group Representation Constituency is a five-member Group Representation Constituency (GRC) in the north eastern region of Singapore. The constituency encompasses the majority of Ang Mo Kio (Teck Ghee, Cheng San-Seletar, portions of Yio Chu Kang), Seletar Hills, the northern half of Serangoon North, a portion of northern Hougang and a portion of Fernvale. The western portion consists of parts of the Central Catchment Nature Reserve, while in the northeastern corner, it borders the Straits of Johor with two reclaimed islands, Pulau Punggol Barat and Pulau Punggol Timor. The northeast also includes the Sengkang Floating Wetland. This GRC has a total of 5 wards namely Teck Ghee, Cheng San- Seletar, Fernvale, Jalan Kayu and Ang Mo Kio-Hougang. The current MPs are Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Darryl David, Gan Thiam Poh, Ng Ling Ling and Nadia Ahmad Samdin.

History[]

In the 2001 general election, the constituency was enlarged to include most parts of the Cheng San Group Representation Constituency, while during the general election in 2006, the Yio Chu Kang division – where the centre of Ang Mo Kio town is located – was hived off as a Single Member Constituency (SMC). The SMC was subsequently merged back into Ang Mo Kio GRC during the 2011 general election.

Nee Soon South was part of the GRC until 2011 and Kebun Baru until 2015 – both were transferred to the Nee Soon GRC. In their place, parts of northern Hougang were progressively introduced into the GRC; Ang Mo Kio-Hougang in place of Nee Soon South, and Sengkang South in place of Kebun Baru.

In the 2020 general election, Kebun Baru and Yio Chu Kang became SMCs while the GRC absorbed the Fernvale portion of Sengkang West SMC. In return, the Anchorvale portion of Sengkang West SMC was subsumed into the newly-created Sengkang GRC, and Ang Mo Kio GRC's seats were reduced by one to five seats. This GRC is the stronghold area of the ruling People's Action Party as Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is running there.
