Nadia binte Ahmad Samdin (born 1990)[1] is a Singaporean politician and lawyer. A member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), she is a Member of the 14th Parliament and has been representing the Cheng San-Seletar ward of Ang Mo Kio Group Representation Constituency (GRC) since 2020.
Education[]
Nadia was educated at CHIJ Katong Convent and Victoria Junior College[2] before she went on to complete a Bachelor of Laws at Singapore Management University's School of Law.
Career[]
Nadia was formerly a current affairs producer for CNA.[3] She is an associate director at TSMP Law Corporation, where she first worked as an intern. She is part of the firm's corporate transactional team.[4]
Political career[]
Nadia was fielded in the 2020 general election to contest in Ang Mo Kio GRC on the People's Action Party's (PAP) ticket against the Reform Party.[5] Her running mates were Lee Hsien Loong, Darryl David, Gan Thiam Poh and Ng Ling Ling.[5] On 11 July 2020, Nadia and the PAP team were declared elected Members of Parliament representing Ang Mo Kio GRC in the 14th Parliament after garnering 71.91% of the valid votes.[6]
Community service[]
Nadia is a district councillor in the South East Community Development Council[7] and she also serves as a panel advisor in the Youth Courts.[8] In 2018, she was selected as a delegate member to attend the G20 meeting for youth leaders held in Córdoba, Argentina.[citation needed]
Nadia holds key positions in the National Youth Council and the Singapore Council of Women's Organisations, and is a board member of Prophet Muhammad's Birthday Memorial Scholarship Fund Board as well as the Singapore Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry.[citation needed]
