Bokaro Airport (ICAO: VEBK) is an airport located in Bokaro in the state of Jharkhand in India.

upcoming public airport owned by Steel Authority of India Limited and located in Bokaro Steel City, in the state of Jharkhand, India.[3][4] There are no scheduled flights to the airport at the moment. The airport was included in the UDAN regional connectivity scheme[5][6][7] and its expansion is underway to facilitate scheduled operations.[8][9][10][11][12][13][14] The runway will be shortened to 1500 meters. [15]

History[]

Bokaro Airport was built in the late 1960s to handle private flights for officers of the steel company. The airport began operating as private airport until 2010. In the mid 2010s, Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das drafted plan to developed this airport to handle scheduled commercial flights for the common peoples.[16] Former chief minister Raghubar Das and former minister of state for civil aviation, Jayant Sinha, jointly laid foundation for the expansion.[17] The construction of the airport began on 14 December 2016.[18]
