The GT2 European Series (formerly the GT Sports Club and Blancpain GT Sports Club), organized by SRO Motorsports Group, is an auto racing series for grand tourer cars. With an emphasis on gentleman drivers,[1] Blancpain GT Sports Club is a championship for Bronze, Titanium and Iron drivers only. The Titanium categorisation is within the Bronze category, for drivers between the age of 50 and 59. The Iron categorisation is within the Bronze category, for drivers over the age of 60. Originally the races are contested with GT3-spec, RACB G3, GTE-spec and Trophy cars but during the COVID-19 induced hiatus it was re-organised for the new regulations. It supports the GT World Challenge Europe in various circuits along its calendar.
Established in 2015, the Blancpain GT Sports Club offers Bronze drivers a chance to fight their peers for overall race wins aboard modern GT machinery. Equally, practice and qualifying sessions followed by non-pitstop 25-minute Qualifying and 40-minute Main Races ensure maximum track time. The series follows a three-class structure, with most entries eligible for Overall honours, drivers aged 60 and over catered for thanks to the Iron Cup classification, and racers piloting ‘trophy’ cars vying for the Xtra Cup Class.
Races are run with GT3 and Royal Automobile Club of Belgium (RACB) G3 cars, and the series also uses handicaps and restrictions to allow GTE-spec, GT3, RACB G3 and single-make championships to race together, offering owners of each the chance to race on a level playing field without investing in newer technology. A raceday features free practice and qualifying sessions, which are followed by qualifying and main races.[1]
After not running in 2020, the series was re-established as the Fanatec GT2 European Series in 2021 sponsored by .
