Qubadli[a] ((listen); Azerbaijani: Qubadlı) is a town and the administrative centre of the Qubadli District of Azerbaijan.
History[]
The town was part of the Kurdistansky Uyezd and later the Kurdistan Okrug in the Azerbaijani SSR from 7 July 1923 to 23 July 1930. To its Kurdish population, it was known as Qûbadlî.[2]
The village was located in the Armenian-occupied territories surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, coming under the control of the Artsakh Defence Army on 31 August 1993 during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War.
The village subsequently became part of the self-proclaimed Republic of Artsakh as part of its Kashatagh Province, referred to as Kashunik (Armenian: Քաշունիք) as well as Sanasar (Սանասար) and Vorotan (Որոտան).
During the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the town was recaptured by Azerbaijan on October 25, 2020.[3]
