Beijing Fengtai railway station[3] (Chinese: 北京丰台站; pinyin: Běijīng Fēngtái zhàn) is a railway station located in the Fengtai District of Beijing. It renamed from Fengtai railway station to Beijing Fengtai railway station in 2021.[3] The new railway station is scheduled to open in April 2022.[2]
The new railway station will be served by both high-speed and conventional speed railways[4][5] and will be the largest railway station in Asia.[6] It is also likely to serve as one of the terminal stations of the Beijing–Guangzhou high-speed railway.[7]
History[]
Construction on the original station began in 1895, and it was opened in 1896.[1] Passenger services ceased on 19 June 2010.[8] The station has been closed since June 2010 in preparation for the construction of the new Fengtai railway station, which is expected to have a similar scale to Beijing South railway station.[5]
A metro station on Line 10 of the Beijing Subway was opened here on 5 May 2013.[9]
The construction of the new station was officially started in mid 2018 and the new railway station was expected to open in 2020 for conventional speed railway,[4] and in 2021 for high-speed railway.[4] However, it is now expected to open in April 2022.[10]
Layout[]
China Railway[]
The station will have twelve platforms for high-speed trains (consisting of six islands) directly above twenty platforms for conventional services (consisting of nine islands and two side platforms).[11]
Beijing Subway[]
Fengtai railway station is served by Line 10 of the Beijing Subway.[12][13] It will also connect with Line 16 in the future.[14] The station has an underground island platform and three exits, lettered C1, C2, and D. Exit C1 is accessible.
