Binədərəsi (Binedarasi) or Banadzor (Armenian: Բանաձոր) is a village in the Khojavend District of Azerbaijan. The village had an ethnic Armenian-majority population prior to the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war, and also had an Armenian majority in 1989.[2]

History[]

During the Soviet period, the village was a part of the Hadrut District of the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast.

During the First Nagorno-Karabakh War, the village was destroyed as part of Operation Ring, conducted by Soviet Internal Security Forces and OMON units.[citation needed] It was captured by the Armenian Army on October 2, 1992 and was administrated as part of the Hadrut Province of the self-proclaimed Republic of Artsakh. During the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war, the village was reoccupied by Azerbaijani forces.
