Zoğalbulaq (Zoghalbulag) or Drakhtik (Armenian: Դրախտիկ) is a village in the Khojavend District of Azerbaijan, in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh. The village had an ethnic Armenian-majority population prior to the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war, and also had an Armenian majority in 1989.[2]
History[]
During the Soviet period, the village was a part of the Hadrut District of the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast.
The village was captured by Armenian forces on 2 October 1992 during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War and was made part of Hadrut Province of the self-proclaimed Republic of Artsakh. It was recaptured by Azerbaijan on 9 November 2020 during the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence published a video of the village on 22 December 2020 confirming full Azerbaijani control.[3]
