The film was produced by 20th Century Studios, and began filming in South Africa in February 2022. It is set to be released on Hulu.

Synopsis[]

After suffering a near-death experience as a child, Darby Harper is granted the ability to see ghosts. To combat the existential boredom of high school, she runs a side business counseling local spirits in her spare time. When an unexpected occurrence happens between Darby and Capri, the most popular girl at school, Darby reluctantly agrees to help her and in the process learns how to fit in with the living world again.[1]

Production[]

In October 2021, it was announced that 20th Century Studios had acquired Wenonah Wilms and Becca Greene's spec script Darby Harper Wants You to Know. The film was set to be directed by Silas Howard, and Storm Reid was initially cast as the title character. Reid and Robyn Simpson were also set to executive produce the film under their production company A Seed & Wings.[6]

By February 2022, Riele Downs, Auliʻi Cravalho, Asher Angel, Chosen Jacobs, and Derek Luke joined the film, with Downs replacing Reid, who dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.[2] Genneya Walton and Tony Danza also joined the film that same month, with filming having commenced.[4][1] Filming took place in South Africa.[5] By March 2022, Wayne Knight and Nicole Maines had joined the cast.[5]

Release[]

The film is scheduled to be released on Hulu.[5]
