Georgia was represented by Diana Gurtskaya in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the song "Peace Will Come".

Before Eurovision[]

National final[]

The Georgian national final took place on 1 March 2008 at the Sports Palace in Tbilisi, hosted by Sandro Gabisonia, Ana Tshadadze, Natia Tsalaia and Buka Pachkoria. Twelve acts competed and a public vote exclusively selected the winner. The show was broadcast on 1 TV GPB as well as online at the broadcaster's website 1tv.ge.[1]

Competing entries[]

GPB announced that a public submission would be opened from 3 November 2007 until 17 November 2007. Both artists and composers could be of any nationality.[2] 29 entries were received during a public submission and an expert commission selected the top ten entries from the received submissions. The competing entries were presented to the public on 31 December 2007 via the GPB programme Eurovision Year.[3]

Final[]

The final took place on 1 March 2008. Nine entries competed and the winner, "Peace Will Come" performed by Diana Gurtskaya, was determined exclusively by a public televote.[4] In addition to the performances of the competing entries, 2007 Georgian Eurovision entrant Sopho Khalvashi, 2007 Georgian Junior Eurovision entrant Mariam Romelashvili and 2008 Belarusian Eurovision entrant Ruslan Alekhno performed as guests.[3]

At Eurovision[]

Georgia qualified from the second semi-final to the final. In the final they performed in 17th position, behind Denmark and before Ukraine where they picked up 83 points.

For the 2008 contest the spokesperson for Georgia was Tika Patsatsia.[5]
