Marikina held its local elections on Monday, May 13, 2019, as a part of the 2019 Philippine general election. Voters elected candidates for the local elective posts in the city: the mayor, vice mayor, two district representatives, and councilors, eight in each of the city's two legislative districts.[1][2][3]
There were a total of 180,389 people who voted out of the 246,101 registered voters.[4] Marcelino Teodoro won the mayoral race for the second time undefeated, and Marion Andres won the vice mayoral race against Vic Saminiano and incumbent councilor Eva Aguirre-Paz.
Incumbent Vice Mayor JF Cadiz is term-limited, choosing to run for a congressional seat and eventually withdrawing his bid. Richard Estanislao of PDP–Laban withdrew his candidacy in February. Standalone Vice Mayoral candidate Arnolfo Almocera opted to instead run for councilor, with Vic Tambuli running in his place.
One term Incumbent Bayani Fernando ran for re-election. Incumbent Vice Mayor Jose Fabian Cadiz ran to unseat the incumbent but chose to withdrew his bid for the seat, leaving Fernando unopposed.
Incumbent Representative Miro Quimbo is term-limited. His wife, Stella ran in his place. However, she still has a pending case against her for allegedly violating R.A. 10667 section 8.
