Vibrant Express (Chinese: 動感號),[1] also known as MTR CRH380A is a train set ordered by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region[2] through the MTR Corporation; this EMU is used to run on the Guangzhou–Shenzhen–Hong Kong Express Rail Link. The train was manufactured by CRRC Qingdao Sifang.[3][4]
The 9 sets of 8-car trains is based on the Hexie ('Harmony') CRH380A high-speed EMU platform, maintaining security, reliability, economy, comfort and other technical features, and further enhancing the performance of collision, fire, electromagnetic compatibility.[5]
Now, there trains are storage by COVID-19.
Technical features[]
- Further improvement on collision and fire resistance as well as electromagnetic compatibility and other properties.
- Improved low-resistance shape.
- In order to solve the problem that the colouring paint between different materials of the car heads (aluminum and stainless steel for car body, whereas fiberglass for head-tip) peeling off easily by thermal expansion, an extra washer widen several millimetres is installed between two sections, comparing with the original design, to separate the sections of those materials for respective colouring. This makes the trains have two rings set up in the front, which is one more than that of the original design.
- The optimization of the bogie design and improvement of the interior structure.
- High-strength air tightness: to further enhance the airtight performance, the fully sealed pressurization of differential pressure control mode is adopted. The rate of pressure change does not exceed 0.2-kilopascal-per-second [kPa/s] (0.029 psi/s).
- Improved bogie.
- Noise control: Using a variety of new noise absorption materials and noise barrier technology, EMU speed of 350 km/h inside noise keep in 67–69 dB level.
- The axle load still maintained at a level of 15 tonnes (16.5 short tons), under vehicle weight gained by enhancing traction power, structural quality and noise reduction level.
- High-efficiency regenerative braking.
- Ergonomic passenger interface.
- Label text (including fleet number and seat class name) on car body is painted with MTR typefaces, including (港鐵宋) for Chinese characters and Myriad MM for alphanumeric characters.
