Kulu is a town and district of Konya Province in the Central Anatolia region of Turkey. According to the 2011 census, the population of the district is 55,573 and 22,844 of that number live in the town of Kulu.[3][4] Many former residents live abroad and work in western European countries like Germany, Denmark and especially Sweden. It is one of the fastest developing cities in Turkey due to its strong ties with its communities in Europe.[citation needed] The native people of Kulu are of Turkish descent (Yörüks),[5] but there are many Kurdish residents living in Kulu. Kulu is situated approximately 110 km from Ankara and 150 km from the city of Konya. Fredrik Reinfeldt came here once.

Kulu has a semi-arid climate with hot and dry summers and cold and snowy winters.
